UTILITY LOCATES

All on-site, public, and privately-owned job sites MUST be located and documented prior to the commencement of drilling. The client is responsible for acquiring and providing all locates, unless the client has requested Pontil Drilling to do the locates.

 

PUBLIC LOCATES are acquired by contacting Ontario One Call and providing them with the necessary information about the location of the job site and the depth in which you desire to drill to.​

 

PRIVATE LOCATES are acquired by contacting a private company (ex. Premier Locates) and providing them with the location of the site and more specifically, the location of your boreholes.

HOW TO READ LOCATES

Below is an educational walk-through of how to read locates. At Pontil Drilling, we believe that everyone should be an expert at reading locates.

A complete locate package is essential since it contains important information to help protect the drillers.

The Ontario One Call sheet will have a front sheet that has all of the information about your site (location, depth of dig, etc.), it will also contain a list of all of the locates that will be provided.

Go through the locates and reference the Ontario One Call sheet with the list. Check each locate off the list as you find them throughout the locate package. If the list is completely checked off, you have a complete locate package. Click on image to see full One Call sheet.

When you look at each individual locate, there will a primary sheet and an auxilliary sheet.

The primary sheet will have the site address, what type of locate it is (gas, hydro, water, etc), who/what company did the locating, how long the locate is valid for, special notes, and many other piece of information.

The auxilliary sheet will have the map of the site and where the utility is located within the located area.
